This Advanced Art Types unit is a high school portfolio-building program designed to introduce students to 20 different art styles, techniques and creative approaches. Students explore styles such as realism, ultra realism, line art, perspective, impressionism, expressionism, abstract art, cubism, surrealism, Pop Art, minimalism, printmaking, watercolour, acrylic painting, ink art, mixed media, sculpture and recycled art. Each style includes research, a practical technique trial, process notes and reflection, helping students build confidence while developing a strong visual diary or portfolio. By the end of the unit, students will have a collection of art experiments, research pages, reflections and a final artwork that combines two or more explored styles.
